So they took me back to the operating room and I don't remember anything but waking up in my room. I woke up and felt really good for someone who just went through a major surgery. All my family was there and asked me how I was feeling. Then I was out. Nurses came in and out all night due to my hemoglobin levels were very low and they said that I might have to have a blood transfusion. Also my blood pressure was extremely low. They also put me on potassium which hurts like the dickens. Makes you feel like your whole arm is going to fall off.
I woke up in and out for almost 24 hours. When I did finally wake up good the pain started. So I had my cocktail (dilaudid pain killer)in my iv and I was pretty happy. The pain was mild and I thought this was going smooth.
3 days after surgery my right side starts to hurt severely and I don't know what is going on. I have this rash and I kept telling to nurses that it hurt. So they called the Dr in. He said it was because I was laying in the bed. By this time I was getting up more and going to restroom quite frequently and I can look in the mirror. The red rash took over most of my right side. and the pain was still there. I was crying by this point (day 4). I asked the nurse on duty to please call the Dr back because the pain meds did work and it hurt. She looked at my side and saw the rash. My Dr had to go out of town so they called the Dr on call. He was very nice. Ordered some blood work and looked at the rash. He never said what it was but it put me on more potassium and loads of antbodics.
They kept monitoring everything, telling me to get up and move recording bowl movements and then on day 5 I think the nurses from hell came to visit me. They were not bring me my pain meds like they were suppose to and would have the cna come and turn my call light off not even ask what I needed. Once left me setting there almost an hour. I understand they have other patients but I am still a patient. I was not very needy, I might have pushed the call button twice in a shift. Thank the lord they were on there 2 days and the nice nurses were back. I seemed to have a different nurse everyday/ night. That can be a nightmare because they don't read your chart and you have to tell them the problems from the start to finish every time a new one came. I know they don't have a lot of time but they can at least read why you are there.
I didn't get to leave until day 8. It was nice to finally go home. I had a drain port in my left side of my stomach which would have to be removed a few day later. I was miserable and didn't want to get out of bed. I was having bowl movement at least 4-6 times daily.

Surgery a little late.
I went into hospital for surgery on August 4th for Total Laparoscopic Colectomy.
It started with anesthesia and then with the surgery. The surgery was only supose to last about 3 hours and took him over 6 hours to do. Anesthesia had to be done twice due to how long the surgery took. They made one large incision and 4 smaller ones on my stomach. Then they began to remove the large intestine. They also removed the appendix. I went to recovery then the hosptial room. When the dr told my family about the surgery he said that the intestine was 7 1/2 feet long and a normal one is about 5 feet long. He also said that part of the intestine was the size of a 2 litter coke bottle. That I had a lot of scar tissue especially on my badder. The intestine was growing into the scar tissue and some of my other organs. He didn't want to have to cut me all the way open so that is why it took so long. He also said that this surgery was one of the hardest and he never seen anything like it before. I was in the hospital for 8 days.
I feel that my insides were a lot worse than I known. I thank the lord everyday for getting this fixed when I did because it would have been so much worse.

Surgery Postponed
Well I am a little agervagted with my insurance company right now.
Doctor put me on an all clear diet on Sunday and start the GoLYTELY which clears your system out. I started the drink on Sunday and didn't have my first bowl movement until 10 pm. I had to give it a helping hand with and Enema. It was the worst 2 days of my life. No food only jello and bouillon cube.
On Monday I was waiting for the doctors office to call and give me a time to show up for my surgery for Tuesday. It was about 3 and no call so I decided to call my self. The surgery schedule lady told me she is still waiting on confirmation on the insurance. I was starting to get agervagted. I call the insurance company because they had plenty of time to get it together. They blamed it on the doctor office not getting all the paper work in. So about an hour later the doctors office call me back and told me that they faxed all the paper work weeks ago. The insurance company also gave them a confirmation number dated back for the 14 of July and a approval number on that Friday on there answering service. But when they called them back on Monday they told them they need more test results. The doctor office faxed all the papers to the insurance but it was to late and they had to cancel the surgery. This morning I get a call from the doctors office stating that the insurance sent the hospital the approval. The doctors office is upset about how the insurance company is acting.
But on the good note the surgery is approved and they have all the paper work to do but I have to wait until August 4 to get the surgery done. And I have to go the all clear diet and GoLYTELY again. On the 28th I have to go and do the blood work done.

Clear Diet
So the clear liquid diet begins. Started off with some jello this morning. I don't know if I am going to be able to make it all the way till Tuesday with no real food. I also start 2 liters of GoLYTELY today. I am going to wait until after Church because that could be very embarrassing. I have to drink 2 more liters of golytely tomorrow. He wants me to be completely clean.

Post Op
The diagnoses is colonic inertia. The colon basically stops working not pushing bowl through. Someday it can be very painful or discomforting. I also have to be careful after because he told me I have a rectocele which can cause problems in the future. We went over all the dues and don't. He also said that I need to work on keagel exercise. It's a little weird but I will help in the long run.
I just did all my blood work, ekg, and chest X-rays. And I am ready to go. I will get a call on Monday to let me know what time I have to be there on Tuesday. They are doing the procedure laproscopic. It will be 5 little holes in my stomach. I am a little nerves but with the good Lord on my side I don't have anything to worry about.

Back Story
Here is a little bit of my back story. When I was a small child I had lime decease. I don't know much about about it because my mom didn't keep many records. I also know that I was born premature and was in the hospital for many months. We moved around a lot in my early childhood because my dad was in the military.
When I was 15 I was very sick. My mother kept taking my back and forth for almost a year to the Dr to try to figure it out. Finally she took me to Galveston and they diagnosed me the tonsillitis. At 16 had my tonsils and adenoids removed. That was my first surgery, It was very scary. I woke up kicking and screaming not know where I was. On top of that I couldn't find my family. (Found them in the car sleeping)
I met the love of my life at 18 and got married. During my first pregnancy I found out that I was diabetic. At first I started out on insulin. I should have continued to go to the dr after that but I didn't. I got pregnant with my second daughter and diabetic again. (Had my tubes tied a few months later) stopped going after that (Stupid Youth). A few years later I started feeling really down all the time. Not able to function. I started to talk to a friend about how I felt. She told me to go get a meter and check my blood sugars. I started to check several times a day. Most of the time it stayed in the 500-600 range. On some day it said HI: didn't know what that was suppose to mean so I set up a dr appointment. He checked my A1C and it was 12.something. That was really bad. So for the last 12-13 years I have sugar levels under control for the most part. Today A1C 6.6. I think that is pretty good.
From tonsils being taking out to gallbladder taken out back in March of this year. I have had 7 different surgery. In order tonsils and adenoids, 2 c-sections, tubes tied, foot surgery (neuroma), hysterectomy (tumor), gallbladder removed due to it worked only at 3%. And on Tuesday I am going in for a laparoscopic total abdominal colectomy with ileorectal anastomosis (basically the removal of my colon and connecting my small intestine to my rectum. I will talk all about it over the next few months and so on.
